  • Appraising the Necklace: A post-common-envelope carbon dwarf inside an apparently carbon-poor planetary nebula
Context. The Necklace nebula is a bipolar, post-common-envelope planetary nebula, the central star of which has been shown to have a dwarf carbon star companion. Aims. We aim to understand the origins of the Necklace and its dwarf carbon central star. Methods. We study the carbon abundance of the nebula through far-ultraviolet spectroscopy obtained

  • Abundances in 78 metal-rich bulge spheroid stars from APOGEE
Context. The inner Galaxy is the most complex region of the Milky Way, comprising the early bulge, inner thin and thick discs, and inner halo stars; moreover, the formation of the bar caused transfer of gas and stars from the disc to the inner Galaxy. Moreover, accretion of dwarf galaxies took place along the Galaxy's lifetime, merging with the

  • A Warm Massive Pair of Planets around TOI-1232 Revealed with Transit-timing Variations and Doppler Spectroscopy
    TOI-1232 is a G dwarf star with a mass of 1.0 6 − 0.06 + 0.07 M ⊙ , a radius of 1.07 ± 0.05 R ⊙, and a slightly higher metallicity than solar of Fe/H = 0.18 ± 0.05. The star hosts a transiting warm Jovian-mass planet, TOI-1232 b, with an orbital period of P b = 14.25 6 − 0.001 + 0.001 days, identified with data from multiple sectors of the TESS

  • A Morphology Catalog of Galaxies in CEERS: Evolution in the Size and Color Gradients of Galaxies Since Cosmic Dawn
We present measurements of morphological parameters from fitting 53,885 galaxies detected to a magnitude limit of F356W < 28.5 in the CEERS NIRCam imaging with GALFIT in six broadband filters: F115W, F150W, F200W, F277W, F356W, and F444W. We provide a public catalog of Sérsic indices, effective semimajor axes, axis ratios, integrated magnitudes

  • A Mass Transferring Brown Dwarf Binary on a 57 Minute Orbit
Mass transfer in stellar binaries has been well studied in most stellar mass ranges, with the notable exception of ultracool stars and substellar brown dwarfs. We report the discovery of ZTF J1239+8347 with the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF), a brown dwarf binary currently undergoing stable mass transfer with an orbital period of 57.41 minutes

  • A dedicated survey of fast-rotating near-Earth asteroids with the Two-meter Twin Telescope: I. Observational strategy and first results
Context. The rotational properties of small near-Earth asteroids (NEAs) provide crucial insights into their internal structure and collisional history. However, systematic surveys targeting metre- to decametre-sized bodies are rare, thus leaving their spin distribution poorly constrained. Aims. Our aim was to quantify the prevalence of fast
