  • Ks-band Photometry of the Extreme T Subdwarf CWISE J221706.28‑145437.6
We present deep K s-band imaging of the extreme T subdwarf CWISE J221706.28‑145437.6. Using the new photometry, we construct its spectral energy distribution and find this object exhibits exceptionally strong collision-induced absorption in the H and K band. The comparison with the nearest benchmark extreme T subdwarf WISEA J181006.18‑101000.5

  • JWST mid-infrared spectroscopy of centaurs and small trans-Neptunian objects: Linking the inner and outer Solar System
Context. A fraction of the small bodies that formed in the outer Solar System (beyond Uranus and Neptune) are predicted to have been implanted in the inner Solar System (P- and D-type asteroids and Jupiter trojans) following the outward migration of these two planets (Nice model). Aims. We further test the hypothesis that small bodies in the inner

  • Is the symbiotic recurrent nova T CrB late? Recent photometric evolution and comparison with past pre-outburst behaviour
T CrB is a symbiotic recurrent nova that last erupted in 1946. Given its recurrence time-scale of approximately 80 yr, the next outburst is eagerly anticipated by the astronomical community. In this work, we analyse the optical light curves of T CrB, comparing recent photometric evolution with historical data to evaluate potential predictive

  • Interstellar Visitors and Elusive Extrasolar Meteorites
Despite the immense voids and vast distances that separate stars, our cosmic neighborhood remains a dynamic stage where emerging phenomena consistently challenge our present comprehension. One of the most intriguing enigmas involves the appearance of objects originating from distant stellar systems. We provide an introduction to the realm of

  • INSPIRE: INvestigating Stellar Populations In RElics - IX. KiDS J0842 + 0059: the first fully confirmed relic beyond the local Universe
Relics are massive, compact and quiescent galaxies that assembled the majority of their stars in the early Universe and lived untouched until today, completely missing any subsequent size growth caused by mergers and interactions. They provide the unique opportunity to put constraints on the first phase of mass assembly in the Universe with the

  • Inferring chromospheric velocities in an M3.2 flare using He I 1083.0 nm and Ca II 854.2 nm
Aims. Our aim was to study the chromospheric line-of-sight (LOS) velocities during the GOES M3.2 flare (SOL2013-05-17T08:43) using simultaneous high-resolution ground-based spectroscopic data of the He I 10830 Å triplet and Ca II 8542 Å line. A filament was present in the flaring area. Methods. The observational data were acquired with the Vacuum
