  • Near infrared photometry of IRAS sources with colours like planetary nebulae. III
We present the near infrared photometry of a new sample of 225 IRAS sources, many of them previously unidentified in the literature, selected because their far infrared colours are similar to those shown by known planetary nebulae. The results obtained are used to establish the main source of near infrared emission. Combining this information with

  • Near Infrared Spectra of two Asteroids with low Tisserand Invariant
We present near infrared reflectance spectra from 0.8 to 2.5 μm of two asteroids with low Tisserand invariant, 1373 Cincinnati and 2906 Caltech. We compare our spectra with cometary nuclei and other asteroids in their class. Asteroids Cincinnati and Caltech have Tisserand invariant values of 2.72 and 2.97, respectively, values less than 3 are

  • Near-infrared atlas of S0-Sa galaxies (NIRS0S)
We present an atlas of Ks-band images of 206 early-type galaxies, including 160 S0-S0/a galaxies, 12 ellipticals and 33 Sa galaxies (+ one later type). The majority of the atlas galaxies belong to a magnitude-limited (mB ≤ 12.5 mag) sample of 185 Near-InfraRed S0 Survey galaxies. To ensure that misclassified S0s are not omitted, 25 ellipticals from

  • Near-Infrared Observations of BL Lacertae Host Galaxies
Multiband near-infrared images of 12 BL Lacertae objects were obtained with the 2.5 m telescope at the Las Campanas Observatory in order to determine the properties of their underlying host galaxies. Resolved emission was clearly detected in eight of the lowest redshift targets (up to z~0.3) and was modeled with a de Vaucouleurs r1/4 surface

  • Near-infrared variability of a sample of galactic carbon Miras
Aims.In this paper we aim to determine the longest pulsation period of infrared carbon stars. Methods: .Forty-seven infrared carbon stars were selected based on (1) IRAS colours and spectral classification from the IRAS LRS atlas, and (2) known carbon stars with large CO expansion velocities. Multi-epoch JHKL'photometry was obtained. Results:

  • Nearby supernova host galaxies from the CALIFA Survey. I. Sample, data analysis, and correlation to star-forming regions
We use optical integral field spectroscopy (IFS) of nearby supernova (SN) host galaxies (0.005 2.4 Gyr, respectively) than the massive SN Ia hosts (0.04%, 2.01%, and 97.95% in these intervals). We estimate that the low-mass galaxies produce ten times fewer SNe Ia and three times fewer CC SNe than the high-mass group. Therefore the ratio between the
