  • Role of the Target Orientation Angle and Orbital Angular Momentum in the Evaporation Residue Production
The influence of the orientation angles of the target nucleus symmetry axis, relative to the beam direction, on the production of the evaporation residues is investigated for the 48Ca+154Sm reaction as a function of beam energy. At low energies (Ec.m. 180 MeV, σER ranges approximately 0.1-10 mb because the fission barrier for a compound nucleus

  • Rotation and magnetism of Kepler pulsating solar-like stars. Towards asteroseismically calibrated age-rotation relations
Kepler ultra-high precision photometry of long and continuous observations provides a unique dataset in which surface rotation and variability can be studied for thousands of stars. Because many of these old field stars also have independently measured asteroseismic ages, measurements of rotation and activity are particularly interesting in the

  • Rotation and Zonal Flows in the Solar Envelope from the SOHO/MDI Observations
We report on the latest inferences concerning solar differential rotation that have been drawn from the helioseismic data that are now available from the Solar Oscillations Investigation (SOI) using the Michelson Doppler Imager (MDI) on the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO). That spacecraft is positioned in a halo orbit near the Sun-Earth

  • Rotation periods and photometric variability of rapidly rotating ultracool dwarfs
We used the optical and near-infrared imagers located on the Liverpool, the IAC80, and the William Herschel telescopes to monitor 18 M7-L9.5 dwarfs with the objective of measuring their rotation periods. We achieved accuracies typically in the range ±1.5-28 mmag by means of differential photometry, which allowed us to detect photometric variability

  • Rotational effects on the negative magnetic pressure instability
Context. The surface layers of the Sun are strongly stratified. In the presence of turbulence with a weak mean magnetic field, a large-scale instability resulting in the formation of nonuniform magnetic structures, can be excited on the scale of many (more than ten) turbulent eddies (or convection cells). This instability is caused by a negative
