  • Rest-frame UV properties of luminous strong gravitationally lensed Lyα emitters from the BELLS GALLERY Survey
We present deep rest-frame UV spectroscopic observations using the Gran Telescopio Canarias of six gravitationally lensed Lyα emitters (LAEs) at 2.36 < z < 2.82 selected from the BELLS GALLERY survey. By taking the magnifications into account, we show that LAEs can be as luminous as L Lyα ≃ 30 × 10 42 erg s -1 and M UV ≃ -23 (AB) without invoking

  • Performance assessment of low-cost thermal cameras for medical applications
Thermal imaging is a promising technology in the medical field. Recent developments in low-cost infrared (IR) sensors, compatible with smartphones, provide competitive advantages for home-monitoring applications. However, these sensors present reduced capabilities compared to more expensive high-end devices. In this work, the characterization of

  • Peculiar emission line spectra of core extremely red BOSS quasars at z̃2-3: orientation and/or evolution?
Context. Core extremely red quasars (core ERQ) have been proposed to represent an intermediate evolutionary phase in which a heavily obscured quasar blows out the circumnuclear interstellar medium with very energetic outflows before it becomes an optical quasar. Aims: We investigate whether the properties of core ERQ fit the AGN orientation-based

  • OPTICAL SPECTROSCOPY AS A TRACER OF ACCRETION PROCESSES IN TRANSIENT X-RAY BINARIES
X-ray binaries are stellar systems composed of a neutron star or a black hole that accretes mass from a companion star. The transferred material carries angular momentum and an accretion disc is naturally formed around the compact object. There, the dissipative forces transform the potential energy of the gas into heat. In the process, the gas

  • OGLE-2018-BLG-1700L: Microlensing Planet in Binary Stellar System
We report a planet in a binary that was discovered from the analysis of the microlensing event OGLE-2018-BLG-1700. We identify the triple nature of the lens from the fact that the anomaly pattern can be decomposed into two parts produced by two binary-lens events, in which one binary pair has a mass ratio of ∼0.01 between the lens components and
