  • The Tarantula Massive Binary Monitoring. III. Atmosphere analysis of double-lined spectroscopic systems
Context. Accurate stellar parameters of individual objects in binary systems are essential to constrain the effects of binarity on stellar evolution. These parameters serve as a prerequisite to probing existing and future theoretical evolutionary models. Aims: We aim to derive the atmospheric parameters of the 31 double-lined spectroscopic binaries

  • The Sloan Digital Sky Survey extended point spread functions
A robust and extended characterization of the point spread function (PSF) is crucial to extract the photometric information produced by deep imaging surveys. Here, we present the extended PSFs of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS), one of the most productive astronomical surveys of all time. By stacking ̃1000 images of individual stars with

  • The Role of Environment in Galaxy Evolution in the SERVS Survey. I. Density Maps and Cluster Candidates
We use photometric redshifts derived from new u-band through 4.5 μm Spitzer IRAC photometry in the 4.8 deg 2 of the XMM-LSS field to construct surface density maps in the redshift range of 0.1─1.5. Our density maps show evidence for large-scale structure in the form of filaments spanning several tens of megaparsecs. Using these maps, we identify

  • The Properties of the Interstellar Medium of Galaxies across Time as Traced by the Neutral Atomic Carbon [C i]
We report Atacama Large Millimeter Array observations of the neutral atomic carbon transitions [C i] and multiple CO lines in a sample of ̃30 main-sequence galaxies at $z\sim 1$ , including novel information on [C i] ${(}^{3}{P}_{2}{\mbox{--}}^{3}{P}_{1})$ and CO $(7\mbox{--}6)$ for 7 of such normal objects. We complement our observations with a

  • The Pristine survey - X. A large population of low-metallicity stars permeates the Galactic disc
The orbits of the least chemically enriched stars open a window on the formation of our Galaxy when it was still in its infancy. The common picture is that these low-metallicity stars are distributed as an isotropic, pressure-supported component since these stars were either accreted from the early building blocks of the assembling Milky Way (MW)

  • The NGC 346 massive star census. Nitrogen abundances for apparently single, narrow lined, hydrogen core burning B-type stars
Previous analyses of two large spectroscopic surveys of early-type stars in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) have found an excess of nitrogen enriched B-type targets with a v e sin i ≤ 40 km s -1 compared with the predictions of single star evolutionary models that incorporate rotational mixing. By contrast, the number of such targets with 40 < v e
