  • Dips and eclipses in the X-ray binary Swift J1858.6-0814 observed with NICER
We present the discovery of eclipses in the X-ray light curves of the X-ray binary Swift J1858.6-0814. From these, we find an orbital period of $P=76841.3_{-1.4}^{+1.3}$ s (≍21.3 h) and an eclipse duration of $t_{\rm ec}=4098_{-18}^{+17}$ s (≍1.14 h). We also find several absorption dips during the pre-eclipse phase. From the eclipse duration to

  • The Impact of Limited Time Resolution on the Forward-scattering Polarization in the Solar Sr I 4607 Å Line
Theoretical investigations predicted that high spatiotemporal resolution observations in the Sr I 4607 Å line must show a conspicuous scattering polarization pattern at the solar disk center, which encodes information on the unresolved magnetism of the intergranular photospheric plasma. Here we present a study of the impact of limited time

  • A sub-Neptune and a non-transiting Neptune-mass companion unveiled by ESPRESSO around the bright late-F dwarf HD 5278 (TOI-130)
Context. Transiting sub-Neptune-type planets, with radii approximately between 2 and 4 R ⊕, are of particular interest as their study allows us to gain insight into the formation and evolution of a class of planets that are not found in our Solar System. Aims: We exploit the extreme radial velocity (RV) precision of the ultra-stable echelle

  • Broadband Multi-wavelength Properties of M87 during the 2017 Event Horizon Telescope Campaign
In 2017, the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) Collaboration succeeded in capturing the first direct image of the center of the M87 galaxy. The asymmetric ring morphology and size are consistent with theoretical expectations for a weakly accreting supermassive black hole of mass ∼6.5 × 10 9M ⊙. The EHTC also partnered with several international

  • Dark Energy Survey Year 1 Results: Cosmological Constraints from Cluster Abundances, Weak Lensing, and Galaxy Correlations
We present the first joint analysis of cluster abundances and auto or cross-correlations of three cosmic tracer fields: galaxy density, weak gravitational lensing shear, and cluster density split by optical richness. From a joint analysis (4 ×2 pt +N ) of cluster abundances, three cluster cross-correlations, and the auto correlations of the galaxy

  • Empirical determination of atomic line parameters of the 1.5 μm spectral region
Context. Both the quality and amount of astrophysical data are steadily increasing over time owing to the improvement of telescopes and their instruments. This requires corresponding evolution of the techniques used for obtaining and analyzing the resulting data. The infrared spectral range at 1.56 μm usually observed by the GRegor Infrared
