  • Outer density profiles of 19 Galactic globular clusters from deep and wide-field imaging
Using deep photometric data from Wide Field Camera at the Isaac Newton Telescope and Wide Field Imager at the ESO 2.2-m telescope we measure the outer number density profiles of 19 stellar clusters located in the inner region of the Milky Way halo (within a Galactocentric distance range of 10-30 kpc) in order to assess the impact of internal and

  • Orbit determination of close binary systems using lucky imaging
We present relative positions of visual binaries observed in 2009 with the FastCam 'lucky-imaging' camera mounted on the 1.5-m Carlos Sánchez Telescope at the Observatorio del Teide. We obtained 424 CCD observations (averaged in 198 mean relative positions) of 157 binaries with angular separations in the range 0.14-15.40 arcsec, with a median

  • Observational studies of Cepheid amplitudes. II. Metallicity dependence of pulsation amplitudes
Context. Physical and phenomenological properties (radius, luminosity, shape of the light curve, etc.) of Cepheids strongly depend on the pulsation period, with the exception of the pulsation amplitude. A possible factor causing a wide range of pulsation amplitudes might be the different atmospheric metallicities of individual Cepheids. Aims: We

  • NoMaDS: The Northern Massive Dim Stars Survey
We present the Northern Massive Dim Stars Survey (NoMaDS), a high-resolution spectroscopic campaign at the 9.2m Hobby-Eberly Telescope. The project aims at building the most complete and homogeneous spectroscopic database of hot, massive Galactic OB stars. NoMaDS is part of an international collaboration that combines observations from Chilean

  • New Detections of Planet-Mass Companions to K-Giants by the Penn State - Torun Planet Search
We present the discovery of sub-stellar mass companions to six giant stars by the ongoing Penn State-Torun Planet Search conducted with the Hobby-Eberly Telescope. Each system has a single planet, with minimum masses ranging from 0.9 to 5.3 MJ and orbits ranging from 0.9 to 5.6 years, the longest period yet found by our survey. Three other stars
