Spectroscopy of the archetype colliding-wind binary WR 140 during the 2009 January periastron passageWe present the results from the spectroscopic monitoring of WR 140 (WC7pd + O5.5fc) during its latest periastron passage in 2009 January. The observational campaign consisted of a constructive collaboration between amateur and professional astronomers. It took place at six locations, including Teide Observatory, Observatoire de Haute ProvenceFahed, R. et al.

Spectroscopic pilot study in the near infrared of a sample of star-forming galaxies at z = 2In this work we present the results of the spectroscopic analysis inthe near-infrared K band of a sample of 12 active star forminggalaxies at z ˜ 2. The sample was selected by using photometricredshifts, blue colors and large fluxes in the 24 μ m band ofMIPS/Spitzer. To analyze their physical properties we have computedtheir sizes, colors, stellarGallego, J. et al.

Spectrophotometric study of the inner GalaxyThe study if the large scale structure and properties of the Milky Way has always walked hand in hand with the availability of photometric and spectroscopic large scale surveys. Using the data from programs as 2MASS or UKIDSS, we show how we can derive large scale properties of our Galaxy, such as the behavior of the interstellar extinction or theGonzalez-Fernandez, C. et al.

Spectrophotometric study in the near-IR of a sample of H alpha-selected galaxies with active star formation at z = 0.84In this work we present the results of the spectroscopic analysis in the near-infrared J band of a sample of 48 star forming galaxies at z = 0.84. Half of the sample was selected by a narrow-band filter tuned to Hα at that redshift and the other half was selected by photometric redshifts at the same redshift. We provide Hα luminosities and starSánchez de Miguel, A. et al.
