  • Discovery of a giant and luminous Lyα+C IV+He II nebula at z = 3.326 with extreme emission line ratios
We present the discovery of HLock01-LAB, a luminous and large Lyα nebula at z = 3.326. Medium-band imaging and long-slit spectroscopic observations with the Gran Telescopio Canarias reveal extended emission in the Lyα 1215 Å, C IV 1550 Å, and He II 1640 Å lines over ˜100 kpc, and a total luminosity LLyα = (6.4 ± 0.1)×1044 erg s-1. • Detection and Timing of Gamma-Ray Pulsations from the 707 Hz Pulsar J0952-0607
The Low-Frequency Array radio telescope discovered the 707 Hz binary millisecond pulsar (MSP) J0952-0607 in a targeted radio pulsation search of an unidentified Fermi gamma-ray source. This source shows a weak energy flux of F γ = 2.6 × 10 -12 erg cm -2 s -1 in the energy range between 100 MeV and 100 GeV. Here we report the detection of pulsed

  • Compositional characterization of V-type candidate asteroids identified using the MOVIS catalogue
The main objective of this work is to compositionally analyse the visible to near-infrared spectra of a total of six V-type candidates identified using the MOVIS (Y-J) versus (J-Ks) colour-colour plot and located outside the Vesta collisional family. We obtained visible and near-infrared spectra of these asteroids using the 2.54m Isaac Newton

  • Chemical evolution of elliptical galaxies with a variable IMF. A publicly available code
Growing evidence in recent years suggests a systematic variation of the stellar initial mass function (IMF), being top-heavy for starburst galaxies and possibly bottom-heavy for massive ellipticals. Galaxy chemical evolution simulations adopting an invariant canonical IMF face difficulty in simultaneously reproducing the metallicity and α

  • Characterizing the Local Relation between Star Formation Rate and Gas-phase Metallicity in MaNGA Spiral Galaxies
The role of gas accretion in galaxy evolution is still a matter of debate. The presence of inflows of metal-poor gas that trigger star formation bursts of low metallicity has been proposed as an explanation for the local anticorrelation between star formation rate (SFR) and gas-phase metallicity (Z g ) found in the literature. In the present study

  • Characterising the colour and vertical structure of Saturn's haze using observations from the VLT/MUSE instrument
Saturn's atmosphere is characterised by a thick yellow haze that envelopes its entire surface. What causes this haze to be yellow, however, remains unknown. We argue in this talk that the yellow haze colour could be a result of two or more colour production processes.
