  • On the circumstellar effects on the Li and Ca abundances in massive Galactic O-rich AGB stars
We explore the circumstellar effects on the Li and Ca abundances determination in a complete sample of massive Galactic AGB stars. The Li abundance is an indicator of the hot bottom burning (HBB) activation, while the total Ca abundance could be affected by overproduction of the short-lived radionuclide 41Ca by the s-process. Li abundances were

  • OCCASO - III. Iron peak and α elements of 18 open clusters. Comparison with chemical evolution models and field stars
The study of open-cluster chemical abundances provides insights on stellar nucleosynthesis processes and on Galactic chemo-dynamical evolution. In this paper we present an extended abundance analysis of 10 species (Fe, Ni, Cr, V, Sc, Si, Ca, Ti, Mg, O) for red giant stars in 18 OCCASO clusters. This represents a homogeneous sample regarding the

  • No Evidence for Critical Balance in Field-aligned Alfvénic Solar Wind Turbulence
The properties of Alfvénic solar wind turbulence have been studied for decades using spacecraft measurements. In particular, the observation of spectral anisotropy of magnetic fluctuations has stimulated the development of several phenomenological models, one of the most popular being critical balance. However, the experimental validation of these

  • Multiwavelength observations of the triple-peaked AGN Mrk 622
A detailed multiwavelength study of the properties of the triple-peaked active galactic nucleus (AGN) Mrk 622 showing different aspects of the nuclear emission region is presented. Radio, near- and mid-infrared, optical, and X-ray data have been considered for the analysis. In the optical, the WHAN diagnostic diagrams show that the three nuclear

  • Multiple Star Systems in the Orion Nebula
GRAVITY observations reveal that most massive stars in the Orion Trapezium cluster live in multiple systems. Our deep, milliarcsecond-resolution interferometry fills the gap at 1─100 astronomical units (au), which is not accessible to traditional imaging and spectroscopy, but is crucial to uncovering the mystery of high-mass star formation. The new

  • MOA-bin-29b: A Microlensing Gas-giant Planet Orbiting a Low-mass Host Star
We report the discovery of a gas-giant planet orbiting a low-mass host star in the microlensing event MOA-bin-29 that occurred in 2006. We find five degenerate solutions with the planet/host-star mass ratio of q ∼ 10 −2. The Einstein radius crossing time of all models are relatively short (∼4─7 days), which indicates that the mass of host star is
