  • Spectral library of age-benchmark low-mass stars and brown dwmarfs
In recent years, some extremely red brown dwarfs have been discovered. They were believed to have a low surface gravity, but many of their spectral characteristics are similar to those of high-surface-gravity brown dwarfs, showing that the spectral characteristics of young brown dwarfs are poorly understood. We aim to test surface-gravity

  • Signatures of the Galactic bar in high-order moments of proper motions measured by Gaia
Our location in the Milky Way provides an exceptional opportunity to gain insight on the galactic evolution processes, and complement the information inferred from observations of external galaxies. Since the Milky Way is a barred galaxy, the study of motions of individual stars in the bulge and disc is useful to understand the role of the bar. The

  • Searching for optical companions to four binary millisecond pulsars with the Gran Telescopio Canarias
We report on multiband photometric observations of four binary millisecond pulsars with the Gran Telescopio Canarias. The observations led to detection of binary companions to PSRs J1630+3734, J1741+1351, and J2042+0246 in the Sloan g', r', and i' bands. Their magnitudes in the r' band are ≈24.4, 24.4, and 24.0, respectively. We also set a 3σ upper

  • SCUBA-2 Ultra Deep Imaging EAO Survey (Studies). III. Multiwavelength Properties, Luminosity Functions, and Preliminary Source Catalog of 450 μm Selected Galaxies
We construct a SCUBA-2 450 μm map in the COSMOS field that covers an area of 300 arcmin 2 and reaches a 1σ noise level of 0.65 mJy in the deepest region. We extract 256 sources detected at 450 μm with signal-to-noise ratios >4.0 and analyze the physical properties of their multiwavelength counterparts. We find that most of the sources are at z ≲ 3

  • Rest-frame UV properties of luminous strong gravitationally lensed Lyα emitters from the BELLS GALLERY Survey
We present deep rest-frame UV spectroscopic observations using the Gran Telescopio Canarias of six gravitationally lensed Lyα emitters (LAEs) at 2.36 < z < 2.82 selected from the BELLS GALLERY survey. By taking the magnifications into account, we show that LAEs can be as luminous as L Lyα ≃ 30 × 10 42 erg s -1 and M UV ≃ -23 (AB) without invoking

  • Performance assessment of low-cost thermal cameras for medical applications
Thermal imaging is a promising technology in the medical field. Recent developments in low-cost infrared (IR) sensors, compatible with smartphones, provide competitive advantages for home-monitoring applications. However, these sensors present reduced capabilities compared to more expensive high-end devices. In this work, the characterization of
