  • Modeling the scattering polarization of the solar Ca I 4227 Å line with angle-dependent partial frequency redistribution
Context. The correct modeling of the scattering polarization signals observed in several strong resonance lines requires taking partial frequency redistribution (PRD) phenomena into account. Modeling scattering polarization with PRD effects is very computationally demanding and the simplifying angle-averaged (AA) approximation is therefore commonly

  • MONOS: Multiplicity Of Northern O-type Spectroscopic systems. II. Orbit review and analysis for 35 single-lined spectroscopic binary systems and candidates
Context. Massive stars are a key element for understanding the chemical and dynamical evolution of galaxies. Stellar evolution is conditioned by many factors: Rotation, mass loss, and interaction with other objects are the most important ones for massive stars. During the first evolutionary stages of stars with initial masses (i.e., M ZAMS) in the

  • TESS-Keck Survey. V. Twin Sub-Neptunes Transiting the Nearby G Star HD 63935
We present the discovery of two nearly identically sized sub-Neptune transiting planets orbiting HD 63935, a bright (V = 8.6 mag), Sun-like (T eff = 5560 K) star at 49 pc. TESS identified the first planet, HD 63935 b (TOI-509.01), in Sectors 7 and 34. We identified the second signal (HD 63935 c) in Keck High Resolution Echelle Spectrometer and Lick

  • The Bias from Hydrodynamic Simulations: Mapping Baryon Physics onto Dark Matter Fields
This paper investigates the hierarchy of baryon physics assembly bias relations obtained from state-of-the-art hydrodynamic simulations with respect to the underlying cosmic web spanned by the dark matter field. Using the Bias Assignment Method we find that nonlocal bias plays a central role. We classify the cosmic web based on the invariants of

  • Fractal dimension of optical cirrus in Stripe82
The geometric characteristics of dust clouds provide important information on the physical processes that structure such clouds. One of such characteristics is the 2D fractal dimension D of a cloud projected on to the sky plane. In previous studies, which were mostly based on infrared (IR) data, the fractal dimension of individual clouds was found
