  • The intermediate age open cluster NGC 7044
A photometric analysis is conducted of the open cluster NGC 7044, on the basis of UBVR CCD observations of 896 stars in the cluster field. Reddening and metallicity estimates are highly dependent on whether reddening slopes and absorption coefficients vary with spectral type. The color-magnitude diagram obtained is compared with selected sets of

  • The Apsidal Motion Test of the Internal Stellar Structure - Comparison Between Theory and Observations
In this paper we present the main results of an extensive comparison carried out between the most modern theoretical models of stellar structure, including moderate core over- shooting and mass loss, and the best available data of apsidal motion rates for double-lined eclipsing binaries. Though stellar absolute dimensions (radii, temperatures, etc)

  • Star Formation in the Spiral Arms of NGC 4321. II. H i Distribution and Kinematics
We present H I 21 cm observations of the grand design spiral galaxy NGC 4321, as obtained with the VLA. From our original data, we have obtained data cubes with resolutions ranging from 13" to 45". The H I is observed to break up into small condensations at high resolution. These condensations, with typical masses of 3.3±0.7 × 107 Msun, are not

  • Optical design of the 1-5-um infrared camera of the IAC
An infrared liquid nitrogen (LN2) cooled focal reducer camera has been designed to be used at the 1.5 m (f/13.8) Carlos Sanchez IR Telescope (CST) at the Observatorio del Teide. The image quality is better than 30 micrometers (typical pixel size of the detector) with an image scale of 0.5 arcsec/pixel. The final design is a very compact system
