  • Chemical composition of Galactic OB stars. II. The fast rotator ζ Ophiuchi
ζ Oph, HD 149757, is an O9.5 Vnn star with a very high projected rotational velocity (v sin i ≥ 340 km s-1). It is also a classical runaway star due to its high proper motion. We perform a quantitative analysis of its optical spectrum in order to measure important observables of the star such as its mass, effective temperature, luminosity and He, C

  • Biological air filter for air-quality control
Biological air filtration is a promising technique for air-quality control in closed environments in space and on Earth, and it offers several advantages over existing techniques. However, to apply it in these environments, specific criteria have to be met. A concept for biological air filtration in closed environments was developed and tested by

  • Analytic partition function for plasmas
The partition function for atoms in a gas with partial ionization is obtained by assuming that the internal and atomic linear energy densities are equal, and considering that the kinetic energy per degree of freedom is sufficient to ionize the upper levels of the atoms, and, at the same time, approximating the sum by an integral, which we solve

  • A Very Small Array search for the extended Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect in the Corona Borealis supercluster
We present interferometric imaging at 33 GHz of the Corona Borealis supercluster, using the extended configuration of the Very Small Array. A total area of 24 deg2 has been imaged, with an angular resolution of 11 arcmin and a sensitivity of 12 mJy beam-1. The aim of these observations is to search for Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) detections from known
