  • GLOBULAR CLUSTERS AS TRACERS OF THE HIERARCHICAL FORMATION OF THE MILKY WAY
One of the main challenges for current cosmology is the conciliation, in a single theory, of the formation of large-scale structures in the Universe and the properties of nearby galaxies, including the Milky Way. The most widely accepted scenario is based on cold dark matter, in which a significant fraction of the galaxies observed at present were

  • Zero Drift in Mean Anomaly of the Satellite of 1996 FG3 and its Implication for the BYORP Theory
An analysis of photometric observations of binary Near-Earth asteroid (175706) 1996 FG3, taken from 1996 to 2012, gave a single solution for a quadratic drift of the mean anomaly of the satellite, 0.0 deg/yr^2, consistent with recent BYORP theory.

  • Visible-Wavelength Survey of Jupiter-Family Cometary Nuclei as Part of SEPPCoN
We present observations of a statistically-significant number of Jupiter-family cometary nuclei as part of SEPPCoN (Survey of the Ensemble Physical Properties of Cometary Nuclei). We present preliminary results on distributions of albedos and shapes.

  • Very Low Mass Stellar and Substellar Companions to Solar-like Stars from MARVELS. I. A Low-mass Ratio Stellar Companion to TYC 4110-01037-1 in a 79 Day Orbit
TYC 4110-01037-1 has a low-mass stellar companion, whose small mass ratio and short orbital period are atypical among binary systems with solar-like (T eff

  • Variation Of Sunspot Properties Between 1999 And 2011
We study the magnetic field and the umbral intensity of sunspots for the period 1999 to 2011. We analyze full Stokes spectra of 183 spots observed with the Tenerife Infrared Polarimeter at the German Vacuum Tower Telescope on Tenerife. We derive the magnetic field strength in the umbra from the Zeeman splitting of a near-infrared spectral line
