  • New redshifts for Abell 1758N galaxies (Boschin+, 2012)
Multi-object spectroscopic observations of A1758N were carried out at the TNG, a 4m-class telescope, in May 2008 and May 2009. We used DOLORES/MOS with the LR-B Grism 1, yielding a dispersion of 187Å/mm. The detector is a 2048x2048 pixels E2V CCD, with a pixel size of 13.5um. In total, we observed four MOS masks (one in 2008 and three in 2009) for

  • Near-IR brightening of the blazar CTA 102 (2230+114) observed by the GASP
The GLAST-AGILE Support Program (GASP) of the Whole Earth Blazar Telescope (WEBT) reports on the recent observation of a strong near-IR brightening of the gamma-loud quasar CTA 102. This is one of the 28 blazars for which the GASP performs a long-term, multiwavelength monitoring. Observations performed at the Teide Observatory on 2012 June 5.2 UT

  • Mrk 421 active state in 2008: the MAGIC view, simultaneous multi-wavelength observations and SSC model constrained
Context. The blazar Markarian 421 is one of the brightest TeV gamma-ray sources of the northern sky. From December 2007 until June 2008 it was intensively observed in the very high energy (VHE, E > 100 GeV) band by the single-dish Major Atmospheric Gamma-ray Imaging Cherenkov telescope (MAGIC-I). Aims: We aimed to measure the physical parameters of

  • Misleading variations in estimated rotational frequency splittings of solar p modes: consequences for helioseismology and asteroseismology
The aim of this paper is to investigate whether there are any 11-yr or quasi-biennial solar-cycle-related variations in solar rotational splitting frequencies of low-degree solar p modes. Although no 11-yr signals were observed, variations on a shorter time-scale (˜2 yr) were apparent. We show that the variations arose from complications/artefacts
