  • Search for W‧ decaying to tau lepton and neutrino in proton-proton collisions at √{ s} = 8 TeV
The first search for a heavy charged vector boson in the final state with a tau lepton and a neutrino is reported, using 19.7 fb-1 of LHC data at √{ s} = 8 TeV. A signal would appear as an excess of events with high transverse mass, where the standard model background is low. No excess is observed. Limits are set on a model in which the W‧ decays

  • Search for heavy Majorana neutrinos in e±e±+ jets and e± μ ±+ jets events in proton-proton collisions at √{s}=8 TeV
A search is performed for heavy Majorana neutrinos (N) decaying into a W boson and a lepton using the CMS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. A signature of two jets and either two same sign electrons or a same sign electron-muon pair is searched for using 19.7 fb-1 of data collected during 2012 in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass

  • Search for anomalous single top quark production in association with a photon in pp collisions at √{s}=8 TeV
The result of a search for flavor changing neutral currents (FCNC) through single top quark production in association with a photon is presented. The study is based on proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV using data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.8 fb-1. The search

  • Recent SFR calibrations and the constant SFR approximation
Aims: Star formation rate (SFR) inferences are based on the so-called constant SFR approximation, where synthesis models are required to provide a calibration. We study the key points of such an approximation with the aim to produce accurate SFR inferences. Methods: We use the intrinsic algebra of synthesis models and explore how the SFR can be

  • Radial constraints on the initial mass function from TiO features and Wing-Ford band in early-type galaxies
At present, the main challenge to the interpretation of variations in gravity-sensitive line strengths as driven by a non-universal initial mass function (IMF) lies in understanding the effect of the other population parameters. Most notably, [α/Fe]-enhanced populations or even departures in the individual element abundances with respect to the

  • Quiet Sun Magnetic Field Evolution Observed with Hinode SOT and IRIS
We study two physical processes that can be commonly observed in the quiet sun and involve temporal evolution of the magnetic field: convective collapse and flux cancellation. The aim is to investigate the response of the chromosphere to the magnetic events in the photosphere below. We have calibrated and aligned a co-spatial and co-temporal 3 hour
