  • Physical properties and transmission spectrum of the WASP-74 planetary system from multiband photometry
We present broad-band photometry of 11 planetary transits of the hot Jupiter WASP-74 b, using three medium-class telescopes and employing the telescope-defocusing technique. Most of the transits were monitored through I filters and one was simultaneously observed in five optical (U, g', r', i', z') and three near-infrared (J, H, K) passbands, for a

  • Orbits of Isolated Dwarfs: Local Group Mass and Environmental Quenching
Dwarf galaxies are excellent test particles for studying dynamical properties of the Local Group (LG) and the role of environment in quenching of star formation in low-mass galaxies. In this context, galaxies at the edge of the LG are of particular interest. They enable an estimate of the mass of the LG throught the radius of the turn-around

  • OGLE-2015-BLG-1670Lb: A Cold Neptune beyond the Snow Line in the Provisional WFIRST Microlensing Survey Field
We present the analysis of the microlensing event OGLE-2015-BLG-1670, detected in a high-extinction field very close to the Galactic plane. Due to the dust extinction along the line of sight, this event was too faint to be detected before it reached the peak of magnification. The microlensing light-curve models indicate a high-magnification event

  • NIHAO XXI: the emergence of low surface brightness galaxies
The existence of galaxies with a surface brightness μ lower than the night sky has been known since three decades. Yet, their formation mechanism and emergence within a Lambda cold dark matter universe has remained largely undetermined. For the first time, we investigated the origin of low surface brightness (LSB) galaxies with M⋆ ˜ 109.5-10 M⊙

  • Multiwavelength spectroscopy of the black hole candidate MAXI J1813-095 during its discovery outburst
MAXI J1813-095 is an X-ray transient discovered during an outburst in 2018. We report on X-ray and optical observations obtained during this event, which indicate that the source is a new low-mass X-ray binary. The outburst lasted ˜70 d and peaked at LX(0.5-10 keV) ˜ 7.6 × 1036 erg s-1, assuming a distance of 8 kpc. Swift/XRT follow-up covering the

  • MONOS: Multiplicity Of Northern O-type Spectroscopic systems. I. Project description and spectral classifications and visual multiplicity of previously known objects
Context. Multiplicity in massive stars is key to understanding the chemical and dynamical evolution of galaxies. Among massive stars, those of O type play a crucial role due to their high masses and short lifetimes. Aims: MONOS (Multiplicity Of Northern O-type Spectroscopic systems) is a project designed to collect information and study O-type
