Descripción
The interaction between plasma flow and magnetic field transports magnetic energy and helicity through the photosphere. It plays an important role in driving the dynamics in the solar atmosphere. In my talk, I will first show the application of a newly developed flow tracking method, DAVE4VMwDV, in studying the field-aligned flow near the polarity inversion line of active region 12673. I will discuss the possible reasons for the discrepancies in estimating the Poynting flux and helicity flux with different flow-tracking and electric field inversion methods, and show that the design philosophy and ad hoc treatments of the Doppler and transverse velocity are responsible for the discrepancies. In addition, I will show the potential of DKIST in studying the quiet Sun flow field and energy transport. Finally, I will discuss the implications for the improvement of flow tracking methods.
