Descripción
| Extragalactic Fast X-ray Transients (FXTs) are short X-ray flashes lasting minutes to hours, with poorly understood origins that may include supernova shock breakouts, tidal disruption events, and compact-object mergers. While some FXTs were later identified in archival Chandra and XMM-Newton data years after detection, the Einstein Probe enables rapid discovery and near real-time multiwavelength follow-up. This talk presents key results on FXT energetics, host galaxies, and progenitors from both historical and recent Einstein Probe observations. |
