  • Dark Energy Survey year 3 results: point spread function modelling
We introduce a new software package for modelling the point spread function (PSF) of astronomical images, called PIFF (PSFs In the Full FOV), which we apply to the first three years (known as Y3) of the Dark Energy Survey (DES) data. We describe the relevant details about the algorithms used by PIFF to model the PSF, including how the PSF model

  • Low-redshift quasars in the SDSS Stripe 82 - II. Associated companion galaxies and signature of star formation
We present optical spectroscopy of the close companions of 22 low-redshift (z < 0.5) quasars (QSO) selected from a larger sample of QSO in the SDSS Stripe82 region for which both the host galaxy and the large-scale environments have been investigated in our previous work. The new observations extend the number of QSO studied in our previous paper

  • The dual nature of blazar fast variability: Space and ground observations of S5 0716+714
Blazar S5 0716+714 is well-known for its short-term variability, down to intraday time-scales. We here present the 2-min cadence optical light curve obtained by the TESS space telescope in 2019 December-2020 January and analyse the object fast variability with unprecedented sampling. Supporting observations by the Whole Earth Blazar Telescope

  • Spectral characterization of the craters of Ryugu as observed by the NIRS3 instrument on-board Hayabusa2
C-type rubble pile asteroid (162173) Ryugu was observed and characterized up close for a year and a half by the instruments on-board the Japanese Aerospace eXploration Agency (JAXA) Hayabusa2 spacecraft. The asteroid exhibits relatively homogeneous spectral characteristics at near-infrared wavelengths (~1.8-3.2 μm), including a very low reflectance

  • Complete framework for tau polarimetry in B →D(*)τ ν decays
The meson decays B →D τ ν and B →D *τ ν are sensitive probes of the b →c τ ν transition. In this work, we present a complete framework to obtain the maximum information on the physics of B →D (*)τ ν with polarized τ leptons and unpolarized D (*) mesons. Focusing on the hadronic decays τ →π ν and τ →ρ ν , we show how to extract seven τ asymmetries

  • A statistical study of plasmoids associated with a post-CME current sheet
Context. Coronal mass ejections (CMEs) are often observed to be accompanied by flare, current sheets, and plasmoids/plasma blobs. 2D and 3D numerical simulations and observations reported plasmoids moving upward as well as downward along the current sheet. Aims: We aim to investigate the properties of plasmoids observed in the current sheet formed
