The Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) is committed to enforce the right to equal treatment and opportunities between women and men as well as with gender diversity, through the implementation of the preventive and corrective measures necessary to guarantee that no direct or indirect discrimination may occur. 

By signing a new statement, in Feb. 2025, the IAC Management has reaffirmed, its commitment to gender equality and diversity (see document below)

The IAC  Gender Equality Commission  is the body in charge of advising and detecting the measures and necessary or convenient actions to actively integrate the principle of equality between women and men in the IAC, the preparation of Gender Equality Plan's proposals (GEP), its implementation and follow-up. It is also the channel to detect the needs and receive suggestions that may arise in terms of effective equality between women and men in the IAC.

Our "IV Gender Equality Plan" that includes a Diagnosis,  a Plan of Actions and a  new "Protocol of action against sexual harassment, harassment based on sex and harassment based on sexual orientation and gender identity" has just been approved (Nov. 2024).
