  • Cooling of the quasi-persistent neutron star X-ray transients KS 1731-260 and MXB 1659-29
We present Chandra and XMM-Newton X-ray observations that monitor the neutron star cooling of the quasi-persistent neutron star X-ray transients KS 1731-260 and MXB 1659-29 for approximately 4 yr after these sources returned to quiescence from prolonged outbursts. In both sources the outbursts were long enough to significantly heat the neutron star

  • Confirmation of the planet hypothesis for the long-period radial velocity variations of β Geminorum
Aims. Our aim is to confirm the nature of the long period radial velocity measurements for β Gem first found by Hatzes & Cochran (1993). Methods: .We present precise stellar radial velocity measurements for the K giant star β Gem spanning over 25 years. An examination of the Ca II K emission, spectral line shapes from high resolution data (R = 210

  • Complex emission line region of Mrk 817
In this work, we study the physical and kinematical properties of the emission line region of the Seyfert 1.5 galaxy Mrk 817 using three sets of observations, among which are high-resolution spectra obtained with the Isaac Newton Telescope (INT) on the Canary Islands. We find that, in Mrk 817, the narrow and broad emission lines (NELs and BELs

  • Comparison of Magnetic Field Structures on Different Scales in and around the Filamentary Dark Cloud GF 9
New visible polarization data combined with existing IR and FIR polarization data are used to study how the magnetic field threading the filamentary molecular cloud GF 9 connects to larger structures in its general environment. When visible and NIR polarization data are combined, no evidence is found for a plateau in the polarization above

  • CCD photometry of the globular cluster M2: RR Lyrae physical parameters and new variables
We report the results of CCD V and R photometry of the RR Lyrae stars in M2. The periodicities of most variables are revised and new ephemerides are calculated. Light-curve decomposition of the RR Lyrae stars was carried out and the corresponding mean physical parameters [Fe/H] = -1.47, Teff = 6276K, logL = 1.63Lsolar and MV = 0.71 from nine RRab
