  • Spectroscopic and photometric evidence of two stellar populations in the Galactic globular cluster NGC 6121 (M 4)
Aims: We present abundance analysis based on high resolution spectra of 105 isolated red giant branch (RGB) stars in the Galactic Globular Cluster NGC 6121 (M 4). Our aim is to study its star population in the context of the multi-population phenomenon recently discovered to affect some Globular Clusters. Methods: The data have been collected with

  • Size Evolution of the Most Massive Galaxies at 1.7 < z < 3 from GOODS NICMOS Survey Imaging
We measure the sizes of 82 massive (M>=1011 Msolar) galaxies at 1.72 our results are compatible with both a leveling off, or a mild evolution in size. Furthermore, the high density (~2 × 1010 Msolar kpc-3) of massive galaxies at these redshifts, which are similar to present-day globular clusters, possibly makes any further evolution in sizes beyond

  • Post-common envelope binaries from SDSS - III. Seven new orbital periods
We present follow-up spectroscopy and photometry of 11 post-common envelope binary (PCEB) candidates identified from multiple Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) spectroscopy in an earlier paper. Radial velocity measurements using the NaIλλ8183.27, 8194.81 absorption doublet were performed for nine of these systems and provided measurements of six

  • Polarized Hydrogen Emission Lines in Mira star
We present the very first results of a full spectropolarimetric study (in the four Stokes parameters I, Q, U and V) performed with NARVAL at TBL, on the Mira star o Cet. We focus on the high level of time variable linear polarization detected in Hydrogen emission lines.

  • Optical variability of the ultracool dwarf TVLM 513-46546: evidence for inhomogeneous dust clouds
We present multicolour photometry of the M8.5V ultracool dwarf `pulsar' TVLM 513-46546 (hereafter TVLM 513) obtained with the triple-beam photometer ULTRACAM. Data were obtained simultaneously in the Sloan-g' and Sloan-i' bands. The previously reported sinusoidal variability, with a period of 2 h, is recovered here. However, the Sloan-g' and Sloan
