  • Spectroscopic survey of Kepler stars. I. HERMES/Mercator observations of A- and F-type stars
The Kepler space mission provided near-continuous and high-precision photometry of about 207 000 stars, which can be used for asteroseismology. However, for successful seismic modeling it is equally important to have accurate stellar physical parameters. Therefore, supplementary ground-based data are needed. We report the results of the analysis of

  • Spatial deconvolution of spectropolarimetric data: an application to quiet Sun magnetic elements
Context. One of the difficulties in extracting reliable information about the thermodynamical and magnetic properties of solar plasmas from spectropolarimetric observations is the presence of light dispersed inside the instruments, known as stray light. Aims: We aim to analyze quiet Sun observations after the spatial deconvolution of the data. We

  • Reverberation lags in black hole X-ray binaries
Reprocessing of the primary X-ray continuum in the accretion disc is expected to cause reverberation lags which are powerful diagnostics of the geometry of the inner flow. X-ray reverberation lags are now commonly observed in supermassive accreting black hole systems (active galactic nuclei, AGN). These lags are also expected in smaller objects

  • Rapid Rotation of Low-mass Red Giants Using APOKASC: A Measure of Interaction Rates on the Post-main-sequence
We investigate the occurrence rate of rapidly rotating (v{sin}i >10 km s‑1), low-mass giant stars in the Apache Point Observatory Galaxy Evolution Experiment-Kepler (APOKASC) fields with asteroseismic mass and surface gravity measurements. Such stars are likely merger products and their frequency places interesting constraints on stellar population

  • Probing the very high energy γ-ray spectral curvature in the blazar PG 1553+113 with the MAGIC telescopes
PG 1553+113 is a very high energy (VHE, E > 100 GeV) γ-ray emitter classified as a BL Lac object. Its redshift is constrained by intergalactic absorption lines in the range 0.4 z 0.58. The MAGIC telescopes have monitored the source's activity since 2005. In early 2012, PG 1553+113 was found in a high state, and later, in April of the same year
