Description

The two polishing machines of the Optics department are mainly used for the polishing of optical fibres or optical fibres bundles, although it can also be used for polishing metallic and optical surfaces for the manufacture of mirrors of small dimensions. The objective of the polishing of the ends of the optical fibres is to ensure the transparency and the preservation of the characteristics of the light that enters and leaves the fibre. One of the polishers is metallographic and the other is designed for the polishing of optical elements. Part of these equipment has been financed by ERDF funds.
