  • TESS Spots a Hot Jupiter with an Inner Transiting Neptune
Hot Jupiters are rarely accompanied by other planets within a factor of a few in orbital distance. Previously, only two such systems have been found. Here, we report the discovery of a third system using data from the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS). The host star, TOI-1130, is an eleventh magnitude K-dwarf in Gaia G-band. It has two

  • The bias of dark matter tracers: assessing the accuracy of mapping techniques
We present a comparison between approximated methods for the construction of mock catalogues based on the halo-bias mapping technique. To this end, we use as reference a high-resolution N-body simulation of 3840 3 dark matter particles on a 400 h -1 Mpc cube box from the Multidark suite. In particular, we explore parametric versus non-parametric

  • The evolution of rest-frame UV properties, Ly α EWs, and the SFR-stellar mass relation at z ̃ 2-6 for SC4K LAEs
We explore deep rest-frame UV to FIR data in the COSMOS field to measure the individual spectral energy distributions (SED) of the ̃4000 SC4K (Sobral et al.) Lyman α (Ly α) emitters (LAEs) at z ̃ 2-6. We find typical stellar masses of 10 9.3 ± 0.6 M ☉ and star formation rates (SFR) of SFR_SED=4.4^{+10.5}_{-2.4} M ☉ yr -1 and SFR_{Ly α }=5.9^{+6.3}_

  • The First Ultracompact Roche Lobe-Filling Hot Subdwarf Binary
We report the discovery of the first short-period binary in which a hot subdwarf star (sdOB) filled its Roche lobe and started mass transfer to its companion. The object was discovered as part of a dedicated high-cadence survey of the Galactic plane named the Zwicky Transient Facility and exhibits a period of P = 39.3401(1) minutes, making it the

  • The Hubble Space Telescope UV Legacy Survey of Galactic Globular Clusters. XX. Ages of Single and Multiple Stellar Populations in Seven Bulge Globular Clusters
In the present work we analyzed seven globular clusters (GCs) selected from their location in the Galactic bulge and with metallicity values in the range -1.30 ≲ [Fe/H] ≲ -0.50. The aim of this work is first to derive cluster ages assuming single stellar populations and second to identify the stars from first (1G) and second generations (2G) from

  • The Magnetic Sensitivity of the Resonance and Subordinate Lines of Mg II in the Solar Chromosphere
We carry out a theoretical study of the polarization of the solar Mg II h-k doublet (including its extended wings) and the subordinate ultraviolet (UV) triplet around 280 nm. These lines are of great diagnostic interest, as they encode information on the physical properties of the solar atmosphere from the upper photosphere to the chromosphere
