  • Simultaneous longitudinal and transverse oscillations in filament threads after a failed eruption
Context. Longitudinal and transverse oscillations are frequently observed in the solar prominences and/or filaments. These oscillations are excited by a large-scale shock wave, impulsive flares at one leg of the filament threads, or due to any low coronal eruptions. We report simultaneous longitudinal and transverse oscillations in the filament

  • Spectro-polarimetric analysis of a short lived solar active region
The physical processes related to the formation, evolution and disappearance of solar active regions are not completely clear. High-resolution solar spectro-polarimetric data are needed to investigate these processes with unprecedented details. Here we present the analysis of the short-lived NOAA 12549 active region using high-resolution spectro

  • The Extreme CNO-enhanced Composition of the Primitive Iron-poor Dwarf Star J0815+4729
We present an analysis of high-resolution Keck/HIRES spectroscopic observations of J0815+4729, an extremely carbon-enhanced, iron-poor dwarf star. These high-quality data allow us to derive a metallicity of [Fe/H] = −5.49 ± 0.14 from the three strongest Fe i lines and to measure a high [Ca/Fe] = 0.75 ± 0.14. The large carbon abundance of A(C) = 7

  • The highly inflated giant planet WASP-174b
Context. The transiting exoplanetary system WASP-174 was reported to be composed by a main-sequence F star (V = 11.8 mag) and a giant planet, WASP-174b (orbital period P orb = 4.23 days). However only an upper limit was placed on the planet mass (<1.3 M Jup), and a highly uncertain planetary radius (0.7-1.7 R Jup) was determined. Aims: We aim to

  • The Pre-He White Dwarf in the Post-mass Transfer Binary EL CVn
EL CVn is the prototype of a class of eclipsing binaries that consist of an A- or F-type main-sequence star and a hot, low-mass, pre-He white dwarf (pre-He WD), the stripped down remains of the former mass donor. Here we present the first direct detection and characterization of the spectrum of the pre-He WD in EL CVn that was made possible through
