  • Diversity of nuclear star cluster formation mechanisms revealed by their star formation histories
Nuclear star clusters (NSCs) are the densest stellar systems in the Universe and are found in the centres of all types of galaxies. They are thought to form via mergers of star clusters such as ancient globular clusters (GCs) that spiral to the centre as a result of dynamical friction or through in situ star formation directly at the galaxy centre

  • Dips and eclipses in the X-ray binary Swift J1858.6-0814 observed with NICER
We present the discovery of eclipses in the X-ray light curves of the X-ray binary Swift J1858.6-0814. From these, we find an orbital period of $P=76841.3_{-1.4}^{+1.3}$ s (≍21.3 h) and an eclipse duration of $t_{\rm ec}=4098_{-18}^{+17}$ s (≍1.14 h). We also find several absorption dips during the pre-eclipse phase. From the eclipse duration to

  • Dark Energy Survey Year 3 Results: Photometric Data Set for Cosmology
We describe the Dark Energy Survey (DES) photometric data set assembled from the first three years of science operations to support DES Year 3 cosmologic analyses, and provide usage notes aimed at the broad astrophysics community. Y3 GOLD improves on previous releases from DES, Y1 GOLD, and Data Release 1 (DES DR1), presenting an expanded and

  • Corrigendum: The Remote Observatories of the Southeastern Association for Research in Astronomy (SARA)
Bill Gray of Project Pluto brought to our attention an error of 0.03° in the listed latitude of our Kitt Peak telescope. While correcting the table where this occurred, we also take the opportunity to update the instrument properties and weather statistics of our remote telescopes.

  • Cool stars with hot companions in the Small Magellanic Cloud
Most massive stars are born in binary systems, with 70% expected to interact with a companion within their lifetimes. The consequences of these interactions for subsequent evolutionary stages and for the endpoints of stellar evolution are still not well understood, particularly for the red supergiant (RSG) phase: the final evolutionary stage before
