  • Finding the Ultra-Harmonic Resonance from Photometry Alone
Resonances in barred galaxies may induce morphological features, such as rings. Previous work suggested that the location of 'dark-gaps', or regions of a galaxy where the difference between the surface brightness along the bar major axis and along the bar minor axis are maximal, can be attributed to the location of bar corotation. Here, using

  • KMT-2019-BLG-1715: Planetary Microlensing Event with Three Lens Masses and Two Source Stars
We investigate the gravitational microlensing event KMT-2019-BLG-1715, the light curve of which shows two short-term anomalies from a caustic-crossing binary-lensing light curve: one with a large deviation and the other with a small deviation. We identify five pairs of solutions, in which the anomalies are explained by adding an extra lens or

  • Time-resolved Low-resolution Spectra of BLAP-009 and BLAP-014
We present time resolved low resolution spectra of BLAP-009 and BLAP-014 collected with SPRAT on the Liverpool Telescope. The spectra were median-stacked in four ranges of phase. It was intended to note the variation in the shape of the helium absorption lines as a function of phase, but they do not appear to vary with time in low resolution

  • X-ray binary accretion states in active galactic nuclei? Sensing the accretion disc of supermassive black holes with mid-infrared nebular lines
Accretion states, which are universally observed in stellar mass black holes in X-ray binaries, might be expected in active galactic nuclei (AGN). This is the case at low luminosities, when the jet-corona coupling dominates the energy output in both populations. Previous attempts to extend this framework to a wider AGN population have been
