  • CO mapping of bipolar outflows
The paper presents CO and (C-13)O J = 2-1 spectra and mapping of bipolar outflows, acquired with the 12-m NRAO antenna at Kitt Peak, for the following sources: Cep A, K 3-50, NGC 1333, NGC 2264, S 88B, NGC 6334 V, and NGC 6334B. For most of these sources, the mapping represents the highest resolution mapping so far obtained. As a result, new

  • The soft X-ray transient GS2000 + 25. I - an 8.3-hr modulation during outburst
Optical spectroscopy of the X-ray transient, GS2000 + 25 during its 1988 outburst shows that this system is similar to A0620 - 00 but at a greater distance (greater than 2 kpc). Photometry from La Palma and Russia is presented that reveals a 0.1-mag modulation at a period of 8.33 hr, associated with the orbital period. It is proposed that the

  • Spatially resolved spectroscopy of WR ring nebulae. II - M1-67
Detailed, high spatial resolution spectroscopy of the WR ring nebula M1-67 surrounding the WN 8 star WR 124 is presented. Abundances for 4 positions in M1-67 are derived and it is found that N is enhanced by a factor of 4 - 7.5, O is deficient by a factor of 5 - 7.5 and S has a normal H II region abundance. This remarkable abundance pattern leads

  • Quasar H-beta profiles and discs
High signal-to-noise spectra of the H-beta region of eight radio-loud quasars are presented in an investigation seeking evidence for the emission of this line from a disk. Although the double-humped profile expected in simple versions of the disk hypothesis is not found, shoulders are found in the profile expected in a modified form of this idea. A

  • Phase space distribution of halo particles and detection of WIMPS.
The authors calculate the velocity distribution of halo particles using realistic models for the density profiles of the Galactic disk, spheroid, and halo components. They get the resulting velocity distribution, which is different from the Maxwellian distribution of isothermal halo. The authors investigate the consequences concerning the time
