  • Evidence for Water Maser Reverberation in NGC 1068
The brighter water masers of NGC 1068 appear to trace molecular gas in a parsec-scale disk surrounding the central engine. We find evidence that these masers are reverberating in response to a central, common pump source, presumably the central engine. Firstly, the luminosities of individual maser features are correlated on time-scales as fine as

  • Density and Excitation Mapping of M2-9
We have acquired imaging of the bipolar outflow M2-9 in the transitions [O III] λ5007, H I λ6563, [N II] λ6584, and [S II] λλ6717, 6731. As a result, we are able to map both excitation and density over the face of the nebula. We find that underlying densities in the lobes increase to ne~1.6x103 cm-3 at distances rp~12"-15" from the central star

  • Cross-Correlation of Tenerife Data with Galactic Templates-Evidence for Spinning Dust?
The recent discovery of dust-correlated diffuse microwave emission has prompted two rival explanations: free-free emission and spinning dust grains. We present new detections of this component at 10 and 15 GHz by the switched-beam Tenerife experiment. The data show a turnover in the spectrum and thereby support the spinning dust hypothesis. • Correlations between Structural Parameters of Disk Galaxies
We have obtained (in BVRI filters) the structural parameters of four disk galaxies, spanning a range of different morphological types. We believe the parameters are reliable because an extensive part of the galaxies' disks are free from contamination by other components, and a detailed photometric method has been used to derive these quantities

  • Circumnuclear Star-Forming Regions in Barred Galaxies
We present high-resolution Hα velocity fields and rotation curves of the circumnuclear star-forming regions of five barred galaxies. Two of the five objects show substantially smaller initial rises than the three others; these two objects also have spiral structure inside the circumnuclear star-forming ring.

  • Chandra X-ray Observatory Observation of the Nucleus of M31
As part of our Guaranteed Time Observer program on the Chandra X-Ray Observatory, we have an M31 observing program which has two major objectives. First to monitor the galaxy on a monthly basis to detect transient sources and follow their evolution. Second to obtain a deep image of the central region of M31 in order to measure the luminosity
