  • GX 339-4 Approaching Quiescence ?
The black hole X-ray binary (BHXB) GX 339-4 continues to fade in the optical, and has now reached its faintest optical flux since (at least) the start of its 2006-7 outburst (ATels #968, #1027). In this outburst, the source reached peak magnitude values of V ~ 15 and I ~ 14. On the decline of the outburst the source twice re-brightened for several

  • H I in the Shell Elliptical Galaxy NGC 3656
Very Large Array7 neutral hydrogen observations of the shell elliptical galaxy NGC 3656 reveal an edge-on, warped minor-axis gaseous disk (MHI~2×109 Msolar) extending 7 kpc. H I is also found outside the optical image, on two complexes to the northeast and northwest that seem to trace one or two tidal tails, or possibly an outer broken H I disk or

  • H I observations of the starburst galaxy Tol 9 within the Klemola 13 group
The galaxy group Klemola 13 is composed of at least seven independent members including the starburst galaxy Tol 9. Our analysis using optical/NIR and Ha imaging together with optical spectroscopy suggests that it is interacting with some members of the group. We propose H I observations of Klemola 13 in order to map the distribution and kinematics

  • HADES RV program with HARPS-N at the TNG GJ 3998: An early M-dwarf hosting a system of super-Earths
Context. Many efforts are currently made to detect Earth-like planets around low-mass stars in almost every extra-solar planet search. M dwarfs are considered ideal targets for Doppler radial velocity searches because their low masses and luminosities make low-mass planets orbiting in these stars' habitable zones more easily detectable than those

  • HD 50844: a new look at δ Scuti stars from CoRoT space photometry
Context: Aims: This work presents the results obtained by CoRoT on HD 50844, the only δ Sct star observed in the CoRoT initial run (57.6 d). The aim of these CoRoT observations was to investigate and characterize for the first time the pulsational behaviour of a δ Sct star, when observed at a level of precision and with a much better duty cycle
