  • XTE J1752-223: back to optical quiescence
We observed the black hole candidate XTE J1752-223 (ATel #2258) with the William Herschel Telescope (WHT) and the ACAM imager/spectrograph at the Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos, La Palma, Spain. 200-s exposures were taken in the R and I bands under photometric conditions and 0.6-0.7-arcsec seeing on Aug 24.887 and Aug 24.893, respectively

  • Young α-enriched giant stars in the solar neighbourhood
We derive age constraints for 1639 red giants in the APOKASC sample for which seismic parameters from Kepler, as well as effective temperatures, metallicities and [α/Fe] values from APOGEE DR12 (Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment Data Release 12) are available. We investigate the relation between age and chemical abundances for

  • Z physics effects of an additional non-sequential bottom quark
We analyze the Zff vertex in the framework of models that add a new bottom quark in a non-sequential way and we evaluate the tree level contribution to the LEP/SLC observables ΓZ, Rb and Rl. We obtain bounds for the mixing angles from the experimentally allowed contour regions of the parameters ΛL,R introduced here. In order to get a more

  • Z-Z' mixing in SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_X models with beta arbitrary
We perform a chi ^{2} fit at 95% CL to obtain model-dependent bounds to Z-Z' mixing angle theta and Z_2-mass in the framework of SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_X models with beta arbitrary. Using experimental results at the Z-pole and atomic parity violation, we obtain allowed regions according to the value of beta and depending on the assignment of the
