  • A new search for planet transits in NGC 6791
Context: Searching for planets in open clusters allows us to study the effects of dynamical environment on planet formation and evolution. Aims: Considering the strong dependence of planet frequency on stellar metallicity, we studied the metal rich old open cluster NGC 6791 and searched for close-in planets using the transit technique. Methods: A

  • A New Code for Automatic Determination of Equivalent Widths: Automatic Routine for Line Equivalent Widths in Stellar Spectra (ARES)
We present a new automatic code (ARES) for the determination of equivalent widths of absorption lines present in stellar spectra. We also describe its use for the determination of fundamental spectroscopic stellar parameters. The code is written in C++ based on the standard method of determining EWs, and is available for the community. The code

  • 3 New X-Ray Transients in M31
We report the discovery of 3 previously unseen X-ray point sources detected in a 5ks Chandra/ACIS observation starting on 2007-07-31.14 UT as part of our ongoing Chandra/HST M31 transient program. The sources were detected at the edge of the FoV, on the ACIS-S chips, which explains the larger than usual positional errors. Notes: - All coordinates

  • Update and Recent Results of the STARE Instrument
The STARE telescope of the High Altitude Observatory (HAO), Boulder is maintained by the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) at the Observatorio del Teide (OT) on Tenerife. The STARE instrument has been updated in spring 2006 and forms part of the TrES network, which consists of two more telescopes located in the USA (PSST, Lowell

  • Turbulent fields in the quiet sun from Hanle and Zeeman effects with THEMIS
The measurement of the Sr I line with full polarimetry and spatial resolution with THEMIS has provided the unexpected result of an apparent correlation between the Hanle effect signals and the Zeeman effect signals on this line. Traditionnally, Hanle effect signals in linear polarisation have been interpreted as the signature of unorganized
