  • Evolution of Disk Profile Break Radii with Redshift
We present an analysis of the surface brightness profiles of a sample of 435 late type galaxies with redshift extending up to z˜1. We have used imaging data from GOODS-South HST/ACS tep{Giavalisco04}. We have classified the profiles, obtained at a constant rest-frame wavelength (˜ B band), noting the existence and type of `breaks' in them. In the

  • Effect of mass loss on the driving of g-modes in B supergiant stars
MOST has detected p and g-modes in the B supergiant star HD163899. Saio et al. (2006) have explained the driving of g-modes in a post main sequence star by the presence of a convective shell which prevents some modes from entering the damping radiative core. We show that this scenario depends on the evolution of the star, with or without mass loss

  • Early universe constraints on time variation of fundamental constants
We study the time variation of fundamental constants in the early Universe. Using data from primordial light nuclei abundances, cosmic microwave background, and the 2dFGRS power spectrum, we put constraints on the time variation of the fine structure constant α and the Higgs vacuum expectation value ⟨v⟩ without assuming any theoretical framework. • Dust properties in the circumstellar shells of evolved stars: Observational constraints from ISO and Spitzer infrared spectroscopy
We present the results of a systematic analysis of the solid state features identified in the circumstellar environments of a large sample of evolved stars with ISO/SWS and Spitzer/IRS spectroscopy. The sample includes several hundred stars with a wide variety of progenitor masses evolving from the early AGB phase to the PN stage. Our observations

  • Depleted diffuse bands in circumstellar envelopes of post-AGB stars
We report on new results in the search for diffuse bands, signatures of still unknown origin, in the circumstellar envelopes of evolved (post-AGB) stars.

  • Dark matter halo concentrations in the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe year 5 cosmology
We use a combination of three large N-body simulations to investigate the dependence of dark matter halo concentrations on halo mass and redshift in the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe year 5 (WMAP5) cosmology. The median relation between concentration and mass is adequately described by a power law for halo masses in the range 1011-1015h
