  • Robust Determination of the Major Merger Fraction at z = 0.6 in the Groth Strip
We measure the fraction of galaxies undergoing disk-disk major mergers (f mph m ) at intermediate redshifts (0.35

  • Refined Orbital Solution and Quiescent Variability in the Black Hole Transient GS 1354-64 (= BW Cir)
In Casares et al. we presented the first radial velocity curve of the companion star to BW Cir which demonstrates the presence of a black hole in this historical X-ray transient. But these data were affected by aliasing and two possible periods at 2.5445 days and 2.5635 days were equally possible. Here we present new spectroscopic data that enable

  • Reaction mechanisms in 24Mg+12C and 32S+24Mg
The occurence of ``exotic'' shapes in light N = Z α-like nuclei is investigated for 24Mg+12C and 32S+24Mg. Various approaches of superdeformed and hyperdeformed bands associated with quasimolecular resonant structures with low spin are presented. For both reactions, exclusive data were collected with the Binary Reaction Spectrometer in coincidence

  • Re-Classification of the Alleged Quasar Q0045-3337
We present a medium-resolution optical spectrum of the alleged high-redshift quasar Q0045-3337, taken at the ESO/3.6m telescope. Our observations show that the object is not a quasar but a star of spectral type B. We suggest that the object is either a white dwarf or a halo population Blue Horizontal Branch star.

  • QUEST1 Variability Survey. III. Light Curve Catalog Update
This paper reports an update to the QUEST1 (QUasar Equatorial Survey Team, Phase 1) Variability Survey (QVS) light curve catalog, which links QVS instrumental magnitude light curves to Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) objects and photometry. In the time since the original QVS catalog release, the overlap between publicly available SDSS data and QVS
