  • Wavefront Characterization Campaign at Paranal Using GSM, Mosp, Dimm-Mass Lusci and SCIDAR
In the frame of the EU funded ELT Design Study, a wavefront characterization campaign has been conducted at Paranal VLT Observatory in December 2007 involving concurrent measurements with DIMM, MASS, GSM, MOSP, LuSci and SCIDAR. The campaign goals and instrumentation are described and preliminary results are presented.

  • Visible/NIR Nightglow on Venus as Seen by VIRTIS/Venus Express
Two recent works [1-2] have investigated Venus' O2 c-X and NO C-A nightglow from spectra taken by VIRTIS/Venus Express during the first year in orbit of the spacecraft. The O2 c(0)-X(v'') progression at 400-700 nm has been known for more than three decades. However, observations of this system from space or from Earth have been rare. The O2 a(0)-X

  • Vertical Turbulence Profiles at Canary Islands Astronomical Sites
We present the statistical results of the monitoring of the optical turbulence profiles at the Roque de los Muchachos (ORM) and Teide observatories (OT), Spain. The data has been obtained using the Generalized-SCIDAR technique at the 1m Jacobous Kaptein telescope at the ORM and 1.5m Carlos Sánchez telescope at the OT. Statistical profiles are based

  • Using population synthesis of massive stars to study the interstellar medium near OB associations
Aims: We study the massive stars in OB associations and their surrounding interstellar medium environment, using a population synthesis code. Methods: We developed a new population synthesis code for groups of massive stars, where we model the emission of different forms of energy and matter from the stars of the association. In particular, the

  • Turbulence Structure and Meteorological Conditions at Teide and Roque de LOS Muchachos Observatories (canary Islands)
The proper characterisation of the turbulence structure in an astronomical site requires an statistical study of the refractive-index structure constant Cn2(h). Our team is monitoring the Cn2(h) profiles since 2002 at the Teide and Roque de los Muchachos observatories (Canary Islands, Spain) with the g-SCIDAR technique. We have compared the
