  • The B0.5 IVe CoRoT target HD 49330. II. Spectroscopic ground-based observations
Context: We present spectroscopic ground-based observations of the early Be star HD 49330 obtained simultaneously with the CoRoT-LRA1 run just before the burst observed in the CoRoT data. Aims: Ground-based spectroscopic observations of the early Be star HD 49330 obtained during the precursor phase and just before the start of an outburst allow us

  • Suzaku and Multi-Wavelength Observations of OJ 287 during the Periodic Optical Outburst in 2007
Suzaku observations of the blazar OJ 287 were performed in 2007 April 10-13 and November 7-9. They correspond to a quiescent and a flaring state, respectively. The X-ray spectra of the source can be well-described with single power-law models in both exposures. The derived X-ray photon index and the flux density at 1 keV were found to be Γ = 1.65±0

  • Study of star-forming galaxies in SDSS up to redshift 0.4. I. Metallicity evolution
Context: The chemical composition of the gas in galaxies over cosmic time provides a very important tool for understanding galaxy evolution. Although there are many studies at high redshift, they are rather scarce at lower redshifts. However, low redshift studies can provide important clues about the evolution of galaxies, furnishing the required

  • Star formation in nuclear rings (Mazzuca+, 2008)
The ring images presented here are part of a larger William Herschel Telescope (WHT) imaging survey (1999 and 2000) conducted to characterize the nuclear and circumnuclear morphology in nearby galaxies (Paper I, Knapen et al., 2006A&A...448..489K). (2 data files).

  • Solar-like oscillations with low amplitude in the CoRoT target HD 181906
Context: The F8 star HD 181906 (effective temperature ˜6300 K) was observed for 156 days by the CoRoT satellite during the first long run in the direction of the galactic centre. Analysis of the data reveals a spectrum of solar-like acoustic oscillations. However, the faintness of the target (mv = 7.65) means the signal-to-noise (S/N) in the
