  • An optical and H i study of the dwarf Local Group galaxy VV124 = UGC4879. A gas-poor dwarf with a stellar disk?
We present a detailed study of the dwarf galaxy VV124 (UGC4879), recently recognized as a remarkably isolated member of the Local Group. We have obtained deep (r ≃ 26.5) wide-field (23' × 23') g,r photometry of individual stars with the LBC camera at the Large Binocular Telescope under sub-arcsec seeing conditions. The color-magnitude diagram

  • Absence of radial velocity variations in MWC 148 during the recent activity of HESS J0632+057
MWC 148 is a B0pe-type star suspected to be the counterpart of the variable TeV gamma-ray source HESS J0632+057, which also shows variable radio and X-ray emission (Aharonian et al. 2007, A&A, 469, L1; Acciari et al. 2009, ApJ, 698, L94; Hinton et al. 2009, ApJ, 690, L101; Skilton et al. 2009, MNRAS, 399, 317; Falcone et al. 2009, ApJ, 708, L52)

  • A Planet of an A-Star: HD15082b
Most of the known transiting extrasolar planets orbit slowly rotating F, G or K stars. In here we report on the detection of a transiting planet orbiting the bright, rapidly rotating A5 star HD15082 (WASP-33b, V = 8.3, m sin i = 86 kms-1), recently made by SuperWASP. Time resolved spectroscopic observations taken during transit show a hump caused

  • A detailed analysis of the properties of radiolyzed proteinaceous amino acids
The thermal behaviour of 21 proteinaceous l-amino acids either as pristine samples and also as radiolyzed (3.2 MGy) samples was studied with the differential scanning calorimeter. The onset and peak melting point as well as the melting enthalpy of all samples before and after the radiation treatment was measured and reported. The residual amount of

  • A Deep View of the Monoceros Ring in the Anticenter Direction: Clues of Its Extra-galactic Origin
We present the results of deep imaging obtained at the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope with MegaCam in the anticenter direction at two different heights above the Galactic disk. We detect the presence of the Monoceros ring in both fields as a conspicuous and narrow main-sequence feature which dominates star counts over a large portion of the color
