  • Morphological Classification of Post-AGB Stars
We present a complete study of the morphology of post-Asymptotic Giant Branch (post-AGB) stars. Post-AGB is a very short evolutionary phase between the end of the AGB and the beginning of the Planetary Nebula (PN) stage (between 100 and 10,000 yrs). We have defined the end of the post-AGB phase and the beginning of the PN phase as when the star

  • Modeling of the HerMES Submillimeter Source Lensed by a Dark Matter Dominated Foreground Group of Galaxies
We present the results of a gravitational lensing analysis of the bright z s = 2.957 submillimeter galaxy (SMG) HERMES found in the Herschel/SPIRE science demonstration phase data from the Herschel Multi-tiered Extragalactic Survey (HerMES) project. The high-resolution imaging available in optical and near-IR channels, along with CO emission

  • MAXI J0556-332 is a transient neutron-star Z source
We report on ongoing RXTE observations of the X-ray transient MAXI J0556-332. This source was discovered on 2011 January 11 (ATel #3102) and has since been monitored on an almost daily basis with RXTE. A preliminary X-ray color analysis of ~470 ks of RXTE/PCA data reveals a somewhat chaotic pattern without a clear structure in the color-color (CD)

  • Magnetohydrodynamic kink waves in two-dimensional non-uniform prominence threads
Aims: We analyse the oscillatory properties of resonantly damped transverse kink oscillations in two-dimensional prominence threads. Methods: The fine structures are modelled as cylindrically symmetric magnetic flux tubes with a dense central part with prominence plasma properties and an evacuated part, both surrounded by coronal plasma.
