  • A clean sightline to quiescence: multiwavelength observations of the high Galactic latitude black hole X-ray binary Swift J1357.2-0933
We present coordinated multiwavelength observations of the high Galactic latitude (b = +50°) black hole X-ray binary (BHXB) Swift J1357.2-0933 in quiescence. Our broad-band spectrum includes strictly simultaneous radio and X-ray observations, and near-infrared, optical, and ultraviolet data taken 1-2 d later. We detect Swift J1357.2-0933 at all

  • 1RXS J180408.9-342058: An ultra compact X-ray binary candidate with a transient jet
Aims: We present a detailed near-infrared/optical/UV study of the transient low-mass X-ray binary 1RXS J180408.9-342058 performed during its 2015 outburst, which is aimed at determining the nature of its companion star. Methods: We obtained three optical spectra (R ~ 1000) at the 2.1 m San Pedro Mártir Observatory telescope (México). We performed

  • WASP-135b: A Highly Irradiated, Inflated Hot Jupiter Orbiting a G5V Star
We report the discovery of a new transiting planet from the WASP survey. WASP-135b is a hot Jupiter with radius 1.30 ± 0.09 R Jup, mass 1.90 ± 0.08 M Jup, and an orbital period of 1.401 days. Its host is a Sun-like star, with a G5 spectral type and a mass and radius of 0.98 ± 0.06 M ⊙ and 0.96 ± 0.05 R ⊙, respectively. The proximity of the planet

  • THERMAP: a mid-infrared spectro-imager for space missions to small bodies in the inner solar system
We present THERMAP, a mid-infrared spectro-imager for space missions to small bodies in the inner solar system, developed in the framework of the MarcoPolo-R asteroid sample return mission. THERMAP is very well suited to characterize the surface thermal environment of a NEO and to map its surface composition. The instrument has two channels, one

  • The SDSS-IV Extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey: Overview and Early Data
In a six-year program started in 2014 July, the Extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS) will conduct novel cosmological observations using the BOSS spectrograph at Apache Point Observatory. These observations will be conducted simultaneously with the Time Domain Spectroscopic Survey (TDSS) designed for variability studies and the

  • The SDSS-III BOSS quasar lens survey: discovery of 13 gravitationally lensed quasars
We report the discovery of 13 confirmed two-image quasar lenses from a systematic search for gravitationally lensed quasars in the SDSS-III Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS). We adopted a methodology similar to that used in the SDSS Quasar Lens Search (SQLS). In addition to the confirmed lenses, we report 11 quasar pairs with small
