Dr. Benjamin Grinstein received his PhD in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics from Harvard University in 1984. He is currently the Chairman of the Department of Physics and Distinguished Professor at the University of California. His speciality is theoretical physics and he has pioneered the construction and exploitation of several Effective Theories in particle physics, and has a reputation as one of the world's leading experts in this field. In addition, Benjamin was one of the authors of influential papers on cosmological Standard Perturbation Theory (SPT), which is the basis on which the Effective Theory of Large Scale Structure (EFTofLSS) was developed.
Benjamin Grinstein has collaborated with the Astroparticle Theory group at the IAC on various aspects of the theoretical modelling and phenomenological investigation of various solutions to the problem of baryogenesis that can explain the fundamental nature of dark matter.
The objectives and work programme of the visit would be:
- Review of certain particle production and equilibrium reactions in the super-early Universe in the context of low-energy baryogenesis models.
- The conceptual review of theEFTofLSS.
Dr. Grinstein is a world-renowned theorist with a broad and deep knowledge in various aspects of particle and astroparticle physics with whom it will be a privilege to interact at the IAC.
