The Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias (www.iac.es) and its technology innovation and transfer space IACTEC
(https://www.iac.es/en/science-and-technology/technology-transfer-iactec) handle vast data sets from a) spectroscopic surveys of the sky to study the structure and formation of the universe and the Milky Way, b) medical images for the early detection of cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and diabetic foot disorders. Our data storage systems for these and other research topics are becoming obsolete and it is necessary to purchase a fast and flexible system with at least 1.5 PB of capacity.
