The IAC has specialized in the control of mechanisms of scientific instruments, both in open and closed loop, with an eye on instruments for large telescopes and also, more recently, instruments for space. Likewise, it has extensive knowledge in systems for control, acquisition and processing of data from detectors in the visible, infrared and microwave ranges of the spectrum, where the characteristics of low noise and high speed acquisition stand out. With a great experience in the use of real time digital processing electronic systems based on FPGA, GPU, CPU, etc., the IAC can undertake projects in the field of adaptive optics, with great complexity and where a high speed processing is needed, and projects to control physical devices such as designing and implementing servo control algorithms or simulating the system dynamics. With less complexity, monitoring and control systems are also developed with all types of sensors, especially temperature and pressure, which play an important role in the operation of the instruments and their safety aspects.
