  • On the Magnetic Nature of an Exploding Granule as Revealed by Sunrise/IMaX
We study the photospheric evolution of an exploding granule observed in the quiet Sun at high spatial (∼0"3) and temporal (31.5 s) resolution by the imaging magnetograph Sunrise/IMaX in 2009 June. These observations show that the exploding granule is cospatial to a magnetic flux emergence event occurring at mesogranular scale (up to ∼12 Mm 2 area)

  • Optical Observations Reveal Strong Evidence for High-energy Neutrino Progenitor
We present the earliest astronomical observation of a high-energy neutrino error box of which the variability was discovered after high-energy-neutrino detection. The one robotic telescope of the MASTER global international networks automatically imaged the error box of the very high-energy-neutrino event IceCube-170922A. Observations were carried

  • The SAMI Galaxy Survey: Stellar Population Gradients of Central Galaxies
We examine the stellar population radial gradients (age, metallicity, and [α/Fe]) of 96 passive central galaxies up to ∼2 R e in the SAMI Galaxy Survey. The targeted groups have a halo mass range of $11\lt \mathrm{log}({M}_{200}/{M}_{\odot })\lt 15$ . The main goal of this work is to determine whether central galaxies have different stellar

  • A theoretical investigation of the possible detection of C24 in space
Astronomical infrared spectral features at ~6.6, 9.8 and 20 micronm have recently been suggested as being due to the planar graphene form of C24 carbon cluster. Here we report density functional theory and coupled cluster calculations on wavefunctions stability, relative energies, and infrared spectra of four different types of C24 isomers

  • Detection of lithium in massive stars
Lithium in stars more massive than ∼6 M ☉ is expected to be totally depleted by the time when the stars reach the He core burning phase, as a consequence of rotationally induced mixing and other mechanisms. Some massive AGB stars present very high lithium abundances, a phenomenon explained by the activation of the Cameron-Fowler mechanism during

  • HELP project - a dreamed-of multiwavelength dataset for SED fitting: The influence of used models for the main physical properties of galaxies
The Herschel Extragalactic Legacy Project (HELP) focuses to publish an astronomical multiwavelength catalogue of millions of objects over 1300 deg 2 of the Herschel Space Observatory survey fields. Millions of galaxies with ultraviolet-far infrared photometry make HELP a perfect sample for testing spectral energy distribution fitting models, and to
