  • The building up of observed stellar scaling relations of massive galaxies and the connection to black hole growth in the TNG50 simulation
We study how mock-observed stellar morphological and structural properties of massive galaxies are built up between $z$ = 0.5 and $z$ = 3 in the TNG50 cosmological simulation. We generate mock images with the properties of the CANDELS survey and derive Sersic parameters and optical rest-frame morphologies as usually done in the observations

  • TESS Eclipsing Binary Stars. I. Short-cadence Observations of 4584 Eclipsing Binaries in Sectors 1-26
In this paper we present a catalog of 4584 eclipsing binaries observed during the first two years (26 sectors) of the TESS survey. We discuss selection criteria for eclipsing binary candidates, detection of hitherto unknown eclipsing systems, determination of the ephemerides, the validation and triage process, and the derivation of heuristic

  • STEPARSYN: A Bayesian code to infer stellar atmospheric parameters using spectral synthesis
Context. STEPARSYN is an automatic code written in Python 3.X designed to infer the stellar atmospheric parameters T eff, log g, and [Fe/H] of FGKM-type stars following the spectral synthesis method. Aims: We present a description of the STEPARSYN code and test its performance against a sample of late-type stars that were observed with the HERMES

  • Silicon in the dayside atmospheres of two ultra-hot Jupiters
Atmospheres of highly irradiated gas giant planets host a large variety of atomic and ionic species. Here we observe the thermal emission spectra of the two ultra-hot Jupiters WASP-33b and KELT-20b/MASCARA-2b in the near-infrared wavelength range with CARMENES. Via high-resolution Doppler spectroscopy, we searched for neutral silicon (Si) in their

  • SDSS-IV DR17: final release of MaNGA PyMorph photometric and deep-learning morphological catalogues
We present the MaNGA PyMorph photometric Value Added Catalogue (MPP-VAC-DR17) and the MaNGA Deep Learning Morphological VAC (MDLM-VAC-DR17) for the final data release of the MaNGA survey, which is part of the SDSS Data Release 17 (DR17). The MPP-VAC-DR17 provides photometric parameters from Sérsic and Sérsic+Exponential fits to the two-dimensional

  • Retrieving the transmission spectrum of HD 209458b using CHOCOLATE: a new chromatic Doppler tomography technique
Multiband photometric transit observations or low-resolution spectroscopy (spectro-photometry) are normally used to retrieve the broadband transmission spectra of transiting exoplanets in order to assess the chemical composition of their atmospheres. In this paper we present an alternative approach for recovering the broadband transmission spectra
