  • Herschel-ATLAS: the far-infrared-radio correlation at z < 0.5
We use data from the Herschel-ATLAS to investigate the evolution of the far-infrared-radio correlation over the redshift range 0 z 0.5. Using the total far-infrared luminosity of all >5σ sources in the Herschel-ATLAS Science Demonstration Field and cross-matching these data with radio data from the Faint Images of the Radio Sky at Twenty

  • Herschel-SPIRE, far-infrared properties of millimetre-bright and -faint radio galaxies
We present the first study of the far-infrared (FIR) properties of high-redshift, radio-selected ultraluminous infrared galaxies (ULIRGs) using deep observations obtained with the Spectral and Photometric Imaging Receiver (SPIRE) from the Herschel Multi-tiered Extragalactic Survey (HerMES). These galaxies span a large range of 850-μm fluxes from

  • Herschel/HerMES: the X-ray-infrared correlation for star-forming galaxies at z˜1
For the first time, we investigate the X-ray/infrared (IR) correlation for star-forming galaxies (SFGs) at z˜ 1, using SPIRE submm data from the recently launched Herschel Space Observatory and deep X-ray data from the 2-Ms Chandra Deep Field-North survey. We examine the X-ray/IR correlation in the soft X-ray (SX; 0.5-2 keV) and hard X-ray (HX; 2

  • HH 223: a parsec-scale H2 outflow in the star-forming region L723
Context. The dark cloud Lynds 723 (L723) is a low-mass star-forming region where one of the few known cases of a quadrupolar CO outflow has been reported. Two recent works have found that the radio continuum source VLA 2, towards the centre of the CO outflow, is actually a multiple system of young stellar objects (YSOs). Several line-emission

  • High resolution velocity structure beneath Mount Vesuvius from seismic array data
A high resolution P-wave image of Mt. Vesuvius edifice has been derived from simultaneous inversion of travel times and hypocentral parameters of local earthquakes, land based shots and small aperture array data. The results give details down to 300-500 m. The relocated local seismicity appears to extend down to 5 km below the central crater

  • High-resolution Optical Spectroscopy of DY Cen: Diffuse Interstellar Bands in a Proto-fullerene Circumstellar Environment?
We search high-resolution and high-quality VLT/UVES optical spectra of the hot R Coronae Borealis star DY Cen for electronic transitions of the C60 molecule and diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs). We report the non-detection of the strongest C60 electronic transitions (e.g., those at ~3760, 3980, and 4024 Å). The absence of C60 absorption bands may
