  • Seismology of delta Scuti stars in the Praesepe cluster. II. Identification of radial modes and their associated stellar parameters
An analysis based on a comparison between observations and stellar models has been carried out to identify radial modes of oscillations in several multi-periodic delta Scuti stars of the Praesepe cluster (BU, BN, BW and BS Cnc). The assumption that all the stars considered have common parameters, such as metallicity, distance or age, is imposed as

  • Seismology of Standing Kink Oscillations of Solar Prominence Fine Structures
We investigate standing kink magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) oscillations in a prominence fine structure modeled as a straight and cylindrical magnetic tube only partially filled with the prominence material and with its ends fixed at two rigid walls representing the solar photosphere. The prominence plasma is partially ionized and a transverse

  • SEPPCoN: Comet Dust and Activity at Moderate Heliocentric Distances as Observed with Spitzer
A Survey of Ensemble Physical Properties of Cometary Nuclei (SEPPCoN) is underway to characterize the nuclei of 100 Jupiter-family comets (JFC). The survey combines both visible and mid-infrared observations to measure the JFC size and albedo distributions. We inspected Spitzer Space Telescope MIPS and IRS images of the survey targets for dust

  • Serendipitous EXOSAT sources in the region of the Coma cluster - Active galactic nuclei with steep X-ray spectra
A ≡7-hr observation of the central part of the Coma cluster of galaxies has been performed with the EXOSAT LE telescopes and CMA detectors. Five serendipitous sources are detected within the inner 35 arcmin radius of the field. Optical spectroscopy shows that four of these are background AGN not associated with the cluster. At the sensitivity level

  • Serial nominations for the AWH initiative: The paradigm of seven-stone antas and beyond
In this short report we examine the ideal status of the seven-stone antas (a type of very ancient megalithic monument in the southwest of the Iberian Peninsula) as an excellent candidate for a serial nomination within the Astronomy and World Heritage Initiative. This case will be compared with an extraordinary set of dolmens at the other side of

  • Shape, size, physical properties and nature of low-perihelion near-Earth asteroid (3200) Phaethon
We apply the convex inversion method to the new optical data obtained by six instruments together with the already existing observations and derive convex shape model of low-perihelion near-Earth asteroid (3200) Phaethon. This shape model is then used as an input for the thermophysical modeling. We present new convex shape model and rotational
